Donner DED-400 Professional Electronic Drum Set Kit with Drum Throne/Drumsticks/Headphones/Audio Cable

So far, I love it. It sounds great, folds up easily for moving it, and has a bunch of settings. It fits perfectly in the small gap between my couches. I would absolutely give it five stars if only the connection points didn't feel so plasticy and kinda toy like. Despite that they seem pretty strong, but pets climbing on it or otherwise messing with it is concerning. When it arrived the box looked like it went through a couple rounds with Mike Tyson. Luckily, nothing broke. This was probably more of an issue with FedEx. All around it was worth it for someone like me who is a beginner that wanted a newer drum set really badly. Doesn't annoy the fam and is easy to practice on.

I have an issue with the bass drum. For some reason when i kick it with the pedal is double hitting the pad and it makes it sound bad. I bought a new pedal to see of this was the problem but the issue persisted. I believe the problem is with the pad. The material of It. I went to the music store today and tried some different e-drums to see it they have the same problem but they we were really good. Please let me know how can i solve this. Thank you!

It works well and is very sturdy.

Happy and surprised at how good this set is given its modest price tag. Easy to assemble, the features of the music samples, different modes, everything works well. Hooked up a double bass pedal performs perfectly. The response on the heads is great, not sure I'd need more from a pricier set. Also the order process was simple and the set arrived a few days later. Very satisfied, thank you.

Kit sounds great, even came with a rendition of Them Bones to jam too, unfortunately I'll not be jamming to it anytime soon because the kick drum pad was faulty upon arrival and broke within 10-15 minutes of playing. Let's hope Donner customer support is quick with this one.

Good produce as it’s price! This drum has variety of sounds that I normally can’t get with this price. The manual was very kind, easy enough. As a young woman myself ( and even though English is my second language that I’m still learning ) , I could set up completely by myself from unboxing. This can get connected as midi pat. That’s my favorite way to use . So I can record , easily edit timing , phrase , sound , I feel like a professional drummer now .

The hi-hat doesn’t work properly. I put a complain other issue and Donner didn’t respect the agreement I had with customer service, it said it’s gonna give part of the money back. At the end, my experience with the drums DED-400 wasn’t have I expected.

For the money, this is a great deal! The sounds on the drum brain aren't bad. But the ability to connect to a drum library on a computer in a DAW is priceless. Can be used by beginners to learn how to play. I plan on using it to better my drum skills and humanize the drums on my solo recordings! Already purchased the expansion kit and a double bass pedal!

I really enjoy playing my DED-400. It's a sound piece of equipment that sets up easily and plays well. A ton of useful features packed into an affordable kit makes this a true value. However, if I could change one thing, it would be either a better throne or none at all. This is the only place where I feel the kit falls short. No matter how tight I make the bolts, the cushion always wobbles and I become focused on staying straight rather than my playing. Even with this one issue, I still think it's worth every penny.

Hello I love the drum set but never received the da35 amplifier I ordered with it. Perfect addition to our music therapy clinic! We recently got this kit and it was very easy to assemble, sounds great, the manual is straight forward, and love the option of MIDI USB, playing along / practicing, and the availability for expansion. I definitely recommend pairing with their drum / keyboard amplifier and changing the sensitivity of the cymbals manually. Stock i found them to be unbalanced.

For the price tag, you can't beat this drum kit. The dual mesh heads are super durable, I did a close-up pic of the mesh. I've been playing this kit since Nov 2020 and have been having a blast. The sound quality is better than other kits in this same price range, and you can save a personal kit, if you prefer kit#1 but you like the snare from kit#4 then you can change and save the setup. Each pad has 15 different sounds and independent volume adjustment as well as other adjustments you don't get with most cheaper entry-level kits, such as velocity, sensitivity, x-talk, retrigger, etc. The head tension is adjustable so you can get your stick rebound just right. The rack is sturdy and stable, nothing moves around on me while playing. I love the audio input for playing along with regular or drumless versions of songs from my phone. The kick tower pad allows for a dual bass pedal, and the sound module has a crash 2 port for an extra cymbal expansion. I don't have an external speaker yet, otherwise I would have given you a sound test video, but I use a pair of gaming headphones when I play and the sound quality is still great even through headphones. If you prefer a more professional opinion, or need to hear the sounds, there is a YouTube video by 66Samus where he reviews this same kit and plays it in the video, cycling through the different sound it has. If you're a beggining drummer, or if you're just looking for an affordable and reliable electronic kit from a great company, than this is the perfect drum set for you.

My 16 yro son is teaching himself to play, but with all the other instruments, we had no space for a full-size kit. This drum set was the answer. He loves it. Just for reference, the place in the photo is on a 4x6 rug in our basement, so it's a pretty small area. The set sounds fantastic (purchased the Donner amp for it and the sound quality is great), and with the option for headphones, it was the perfect solution for us. Went together easily, came boxed appropriately with all the parts. It is small, and my son is very tall (6ft), but he just sits lower on the stool and it works fine. Very happy with it.

I was very well impressed with the quality. It is made of metal not plastic, very well put together. It sounds amazing, I recommend this for anyone just starting out.

This is perfect for a beginner(which i am). It comes with everything you need to get started, the pads are very responsive, and everything is very adjustable. I was worried about the size being that I'm about 6'2" and I've seen a lot of reviews on other e kits saying that they are very small, but i was able to set this up to be comfortable for me.

New player here. Great sounds and lots of fun. Although it’s great that a stool, sticks and headphones are included, they are of a worse quality than the kit. The headphones are passable, but the sticks and stool are really bad. The sticks should not be used at all. They are very soft, unfinished and leave marks on the cymbals. Using a good quality sticks, and the cymbals still look new. The stool/throne is wobbly no matter how much tightening is done. Small and very uncomfortable. Replaced with an old office chair after removing the arm rests and back.

Great set! Quality sound, easy to assemble, and made of high quality material. Has a much more comfortable bass drum, snare and hi-hat than other electronic drum sets I've seen and tested out. A drummer who is used to a traditional set may have to make slight adjustments with their respective techniques, but that's the same for all electronic sets. I like the drum covers better than some other sets because they aren't smooth as glass like cheaper ones. Instead they have a different consistency for better sound. I easily hooked it into a bass amp and it sounded great. Also sounds great with a good pair of headphones. I purchased the two year warranty, but the way this set is built, I doubt I'll even need one. Would highly recommend, and I am extremely happy with it.

My daughter absolutely loves it. It was a bit difficult to assemble. The instructions were interesting and I may have gotten frustrated at times. But it was worth it.

I'm 78 years old, and the taste for the adventure of playing drums has been haunting me for a few years.......I have one lesson a week....and I'm becoming a better drummer at all..

The drum set is very stable, has amazing sound, and is compact enough to use in almost any room of the house. I would highly recommend this set.

Sounds better than most

The sound quality is great and the system is easy to use. A very good set for beginner to intermediate players. Customer service that comes along with Donner is superb. They answered and fixed every question or concern i had with the drum set

I like the kit, it's well made, nothing was damaged but unfortunately the kick drum did not work. I have emailed Donner and waiting their reply. It looks to be a faulty signal connection line. They were very quick in repling and I have now received the new signal connection line and all works perfectly. I would certainly recommend this company and the electronic drum kit.

I am not a drummer but I play with drummers and understand what a drum is supposed to sound like. This does not sound like an acoustic in the sense that when you hit it, you only hear a tap. Once you hook up to an amp or headphones is when it truly shines. It responds to light and heavy strikes and everything in between. I have no other reference to compare to but it sounds good to me. Some sounds sound raw, some EQed. There is a sound for every music you would like to play. I have been practicing along to music by plugging into the audio input. I did find that I wanted some of the strike components to sound louder on some sets but then I found out you can adjust the volume individually! This was a great feature. There is a TON of sounds in here. You can adjust timber, kits, use a metronome and put it into demo mode if you want to hear a backing track. The drums react to force and area where they are hit. I found it cool that you can hit a cymbal and grab it to mute it. Again, not a drummer but I didn't feel like anything was lacking. Except a seat maybe. Everything I imagined it to do, it did well. More than anything I am happy that my daughter can play without annoying the neighbors. I find myself using this a lot because its so quiet with headphones on. I have no experience with electric drums so I cant say at what level these are at in comparison to whats available in this price range I can say that I am happy to have this as a replacement. Sound is clear and crisp with no artifacting, Solidly built with metal and good plastic, metal foot pedals. Even cost the same as my daughters acoustic drum set. I have even recommended to my drummer who cant practice at home since he lives in small apartment.

My son jams on it a couple hours per day; his iPhone connect to the module and he plays along his favorite music. The module makes great sounds; the kit sounds like, well, a drum kit. I couldn't be happier with this set.

After using the drum set I found the headphone are not very good quality but its an easy fix.

They play and sound fantastic.

I really like the look and feel of kit. It's well constructed and sturdy. Biggest complaint was the sound choices and difficulty navigating through making selections. You can't change/ time the pads. You can create your own custom kit sound. Prerecorded sounds are somewhat “unrealistic”. However ok for a beginner.

Good practice set, lots of different kits sounds to choose from, easy to install. Major con is the foot pedal quality.

For this price, this kit is good. I was disappointed that I was not able to adjust the volume of the cymbals (and high hat) only. I could barely hear them at times. In fact, even through the headphones, the clack of the sticks on the cymbal pads was often louder than the cymbals themselves. If this were to be improved, I will be the first back on board!

My son loved playing this drum kit until the snare drum stopped working. I contacted the company and was told that they would make it right. Soon to be resolved.

Putting together, took me about an hour or so. The directions were ok, but confusing a few times. Good thing is all pieces are labeled for connections.

Mesh heads are good. Symbols are good but the sticks leave marks on them which is to be expected from the rubber type material. Instructions were not very clear putting it together. Took me about an hour to unpack each box. Comes in one big box, and all the pieces in separate boxes. I think it's a good set for beginners like myself and i'm having a lot of fun on it. My complaint is that you can barely hear the high hat sound. Even after setting its volume up it's still to soft in the closed position. I also feel like the sound quality could be better. It's probably the generic looking headphones that they put in the box. The sticks are very light and airy. Sticks have a funny feeling to them almost like they're not wood but I'm sure they are. Symbols all allow for edge or mid hits which makes different sounds dependent on the type of drum sound you have set. 50 different types of drums. I'm not sure they have a good sounding acoustic drum set setting. I've tried them. There are some that sound like it but again, sound quality could be better. I paid 569$ with a 60$ coupon on the order by "checking the box to apply this coupon." I'm not sure I feel it's worth 560$ but what do I know? I'm pretty cheap when it comes to purchases so cost for good drum sets might be higher. It has 50 sounds you can play along with. They give you the drum with the song but you can turn it off and just hear the music and play what you want. So that's kind of nice. I guess that's about it. There's more settings I haven't played with yet. 4/5 stars just because I feel the high hat is not good.

I was very excited when the package came. I’ve been doing some research and I’ve heard nothing but great reviews about This drum kit. I took me about an hour to put it together but it all went well. Once everything was fired up and ready to go sounds pretty good, the only problem I had was that the headphone wire had a short in and the Tremor throne was a little wobbly but I quickly replaced it and kept jamming. Great job Donner!!

Firstly this kit is great for a beginner or kids starting to get into drumming!It's an upgrade from the DED-200 the module is a little more involved but has more functions and you have the option to add an additional floor tom and crash cymbal. So the kit can grow with your advancement.Overall a great kit! Worth every penny!

Ok here is my review after 1 afternoon, I got the DED-400 this morning in the mail, all the pieces were in the box, labeled and the instructions were fairly clear. A couple things to note off the bat; although the kick pad has a spot that is definitely for attachment like the other pads, there is no attachment to the rack itself, just to the tower piece it comes with, for some that may be preferable, to me, I would rather have it stationary, since it instead likes to walk and then taps annoyingly against the rack. For myself I am just gonna 3d print a piece to attach it, I realize not everyone has that luxury. The second thing to note is that the throne, kick pedal and headphones, are nice to have so that you can immediately set it up and play, but all three should be on your mind for replacement as soon as possible. The headphones are the first things I would say, I happen to have semi decent ones already, and the sound difference is outlandish. The kick in the provided headphones sounds like it is completely blowing the headphones even at lower volumes on multiple kits. With even low grade studio headphones, the sound from the module is much more enjoyable. The throne, is small, and not super comfortable, but, I am a large guy, and I knew that I would probably need to replace it going in. The kick pedal actually isn't terrible, I am not by any means a good drummer, but I am having a lot of ghost noting on the kick, I tried adjusting settings both analog and digital to fix the problem, then, when that didn't work I had a much better drummer friend try it out and even he was having issues with it, so new kick pedal is on my short list of upgrades. All that said, here is why I still gave it 4 stars, the kit was fairly easy to put together, the sounds that were included in the kits, are not the worst sounds I have seen, the drums themselves seem sturdy, and they aren't missing notes at least from what i have played so far. The rack is pretty solid, the module has a fair amount of customization available, it will be beneficial to actually read the manual, as its not the most user friendly to figure out how to do adjustments, but once you understand how to navigate the module, it is gives you much more control. The cymbals are choke-able, it does not list them as choke-able, but I can tell you they are. The rim shots on the snare, are not set up very well originally, but once you mess with the settings, they are much better. I bought this kit because I want to practice drums and get better, the coaching feature is good for getting timing down, the provided songs are super weird, which is nice, because they make you actually think about what makes sense, if you turn off the drum track that is provided. If you follow along with what they programmed in, it is challenging for a beginner, but not impossible. Things I would like to see addressed in future builds: Bluetooth aux in, by in large, most people use their phones to play music, and they no longer have a 3.5 mm port, Bluetooth just seems like a no brainer at this point. Allowance for user sounds, with 25 user kits, allowance for user sounds doesn't seem like a leap if this is touted as your top of the line model. Sending an optional rack attachment for the ride cymbal or the kick tower, would be helpful as the ride being in the position that is intended in the original setup, is not optimal, and as noted the kick tower, being stationary would be excellent. It is at least as responsive as the Alesis Nitro Mesh, sized better than even the Alesis Surge, and more responsive than the Simmons 650 model, lastly, it is less costly than the low end Roland, and although the add on pieces are not especially good, they do technically work so you can legitimately be able to play straight out of the box. I will be doing some more testing of the unit including running it through a VST over the next couple of days, if there is more to add to this review I will return and do so. For a E-kit right around $500 USD, I feel like this was a good value. Price wise, I feel like it is the best kit for the money, especially if you catch it on sale.

I have not played drums for many years. I needed to get back into it and really needed a set that I could play in my Mobile home to get my chops back to where they were. Also requiring not to upset my neighbors so the perfect thing to do was buy this electronic drum set. I picked a Donner DED-400 set because of the great reviews on it and I could not be more satisfied as it gives me the freedom to play away and has worked out fantastic to once again rock on.
