I am absolutely in love with this midi controller! I know it's not very traditional, and maybe only partly relevant, but I got this for a specific room in my house where I spent most my time I call the Space Room. As humans, we don't like pain or discomfort - the tactile feel of things is important and they need to be fun and enjoyable and made of nice nice material. materials. That's what this room is for.I have so much stuff in here and it's so small that it's hard to find space for everything to fit, even with some ingenious storage solutions. Imagine sturdy floating display shelves and colorful tapestries of soft, plush, thick fabric - the kind that's nice to the touch, not the cheap ones that crease easily; the lightweight and stretchy, wrinkle resistant ones. Strung across the ceiling are bright string lights to create the perfect ambiance and brightness! Side note, it was not easy to install all that without long cables and lots of mounting hardware to create the right connectivity and compatibility because I hate batteries - even with the advent of better battery life and fast charging, bluetooth connectivity and wireless charging, etc. Anyway, comfort and compatibility are the key aspects - it's about authenticity. Everything has to have the perfect size and connectivity, and plug and play reliability is key!I've essentially put anything I happen to cherish in this room. It's also my home office, so of course it's got my desk with all my desk toys. I am a big fan of novelty. I love weird desk toys, intricate puzzles and models, and adorable key chains! I collect cute flower pots and soft plush stuffed animals; and I love squishy, satisfying fidget toys filled with sticky goo, crunchy sand, or slow rising foam. And I absolutely love costumes with terrible zipper quality and difficult claps, silly hats. I tinker with electronics and soldering, so I have all my tools and controls for working on my projects, along with my touch sensitive display. I like to brag that I have a tool for everything, and this is exactly how it happens - you need some handy gadget for a specific job, go grab it, and you're stuck with it for life! I love music, so my speakers have awesome sound quality. I play guitar and work with synthesizers, and my computers are all set up in here. I keep amphibians, so my terrariums and tanks are in here.Let it be known it may have a odd odor and it is not easy to clean this room! It's sort of dark and it isn't easy to read. This isn't a lightweight or portable lifestyle, and not at all adjustable. While I know it sounds cluttered enough already, this was an authentic enjoyable addition and it looks great and fits amazing.Ease of Use: This was easy - ready to go out of the packaging.Quality of Assembly & Materials: I felt like this was really well made out of quality materials. It's really durable and I can tell it will last a long time.Value for Price: I thought this was a great value, considering the quality and what items like this are going for these days.Packaging & Presentation: This came packaged thoughtfully and with care. It would be easy to wrap and would make for a thoughtful gift.PROS- Looks great!- versatility, this is Versatile.- nice material. materials.- easy to clean and store- really well made and durable- well packaged- fantastic value- stable. stability- stay organized

Tiny Beat-Making Menace ️I bought the Donner STARRYPAD PRO expecting a useful little MIDI controller. What I got was 16 velocity-sensitive reasons to tell myself, “I’ll just mess with this for five minutes,” and then somehow lose an entire evening. The pads actually respond to dynamics, which matters. Tap them lightly and you get a lighter hit; smack them like the snare personally offended you and they respond accordingly. That makes finger drumming feel much more natural instead of like you’re entering a PIN number with unusually strong opinions. The 8 assignable knobs are another big plus. Map them to volume, pan, filters, effects, whatever your particular brand of production chaos requires. Having physical controls beats dragging a mouse around the screen when you’re trying to make real-time adjustments.Setup was pretty straightforward, and once mapped into your DAW, it gives you a surprising amount of hands-on control for such a compact unit. It’s useful for drums, samples, triggering clips, controlling effects, and generally getting away from clicking everything into existence. Is it going to magically turn a bad beat into a Grammy-winning production? No. Donner has not yet developed the knob labeled “talent.” But for producers, beat makers, or musicians wanting an affordable pad controller with responsive pads and customizable controls, the STARRYPAD PRO gives you a lot to work with without eating half your desk.Just be warned: “I’m only going to make one quick beat” is a lie.

This is much closer to what I expect from a compact MIDI pad controller. The 16 velocity-sensitive pads give you plenty of room for finger drumming, triggering samples, launching clips, and general music production. The eight assignable knobs are particularly useful because they give you physical control over parameters in your DAW instead of forcing you back to the mouse constantly. The layout is compact without feeling like a toy, and Donner is at least an established music-equipment company with actual software support behind its products. That's especially important with MIDI equipment, where hardware is only as useful as your ability to configure and integrate it.For home recording, beat making, live triggering, or adding some hands-on control to a DAW setup, this is a capable little controller. It's well designed, versatile, and a very good value for the money.

I’ve been a karaoke DJ for almost four years, and it’s a niche that was definitely needed in my area. Lately, I’ve wanted to broaden my DJ horizons, so when I had the opportunity to try the Donner STARRYPAD PRO, I went for it.This is my first MIDI pad controller, so I won’t pretend I’m suddenly producing the next club anthem. From a beginner’s perspective, though, I’m satisfied. The 16 pads feel responsive, the RGB lighting looks great, and the eight assignable knobs give me plenty of room to learn and experiment. I also appreciate that it can connect through USB-C or wireless MIDI.New users should understand that this controller doesn’t produce sound by itself. You’ll need compatible DAW software and some patience while learning how everything maps together. Thankfully, the included software gives beginners somewhere to start. It’s lightweight, rechargeable, and easy to add to a mobile setup. I still have plenty to learn, but this controller makes that process feel fun instead of intimidating.

At this point, getting another Donner product is starting to feel less like a purchase and more like adding another member to the family. I already have a bunch of Donner equipment, including an electronic drum set, piano, practice speakers, another beat machine, and other audio gear, and I’ve consistently been impressed with how well their products are put together. The STARRYPAD PRO keeps that streak going. The first thing I noticed is how nice the pads feel. The 16 pads are velocity sensitive, so they actually respond to how I'm playing instead of every hit feeling exactly the same. They have a good tactile feel, and the RGB lighting makes the whole controller look really cool without just being decoration. Being able to customize the lighting and velocity behavior gives me some room to set it up the way I like.I also really like the eight assignable knobs. Once everything is mapped in the software, having physical controls for whatever parameters I'm working with is much nicer than constantly reaching for a mouse. The dedicated transport controls are useful for the same reason. It feels like Donner actually thought about how someone would use this while creating music rather than simply putting 16 pads in a box.One thing worth understanding before buying is that this does not make sound by itself. It's a MIDI controller, so it needs to be connected to a computer, tablet, or phone running compatible music software. That's normal for this type of equipment, but I can see someone unfamiliar with MIDI controllers expecting it to work like a standalone drum machine. The built-in rechargeable battery and wireless MIDI are probably two of my favorite features. I don't always want another cable running across everything, and being able to grab this and use it with a portable setup makes it much more convenient. USB-C is there when I want a wired connection.I also appreciate Donner including software such as Cubase LE, WaveLab LE, and Melodics. For someone just getting into beat making, that gives you somewhere to start without immediately having to figure out which additional software to buy.Overall: Yep, Donner got me again. The STARRYPAD PRO is compact, responsive, fun to use, and has enough controls that it feels like a legitimate production tool rather than a toy. The velocity-sensitive RGB pads are great, the assignable knobs add a lot of hands-on control, and wireless MIDI with a built-in battery makes it unusually convenient. Considering how many pieces of Donner equipment I own at this point, they have had plenty of opportunities to disappoint me. So far, they still haven't.

BLUF: this is my first MIDI pad, so I’m still learning… that being said, it’s entirely possible to plug it in and get started.I downloaded GarageBand’s note library, plugged this in, and you can see the results. It just works. Now I’m certain this thing will take time to maximize, but the pressure sensitive buttons absolutely work, and it’s super addictive.Time to get creative!
