Really makes a difference in sound. I, am still learning to use it

I took a chance on this pedal after reading some articles about using compressors. My only previous experience had been with an amp with a built-in compressor, but I'd never cared for the sound. This unit however quickly made it on to my pedal board. I use light settings to just tighten up the sound, with the bright setting to bring back most of the clarity of the original tone; putting a Spark booster after it brings all the sparkle back to life. I'm a blues guitarist and generally prefer clean tones. I can get enough grit from this setup that I don't feel the need to use overdrive in most situations.

This versatile LAX COMP turns out as a sophisticated and nicely manufactured piece of equipment. I was impressed with the quality and outfit of this small beautiful box and what is more important - with the sound it produced. I tried it with my Hoffner and Jackson (active) basses through HARTKE HD25 and was blown away by how tight and powerful the sound appeared to compare with w/o LAX COMP. Next, I tried it with my Fender Strat and Marshall Origin 20 as well as Orange Rocker 15. Both amps produced a lively and professional sound thanks to the newly added comp. I should say it rejuvenated my BOSS SD2 and OD1 pedals. Highly recommend this small retro unit that perfects modern sound.

This device actually has an effect. A few "compressors" I have tried were so subtle in their effect that I could not tell if they were on or off. This one does definitely compress and/or limit, depending on how you set it. I'm still experimenting with settings, but at least I have something to work with.
