Good bass guitar for the price. Cosmetically it looks great. No visible defects. D string buzzes loudly at bridge. Unable to eliminate the buzz with setup adjustments to bridge. Cannot hear it through amp so it still sounds good. This is a great instrument for a beginner or the guitarist that needs to do an occasional bass line.

Wonderful bass at an unbeatable price. If you can't find something local and used (as I couldn't) and this is your price point, buy it! Sounds great right out of the box and perfect for a long-time guitar player, beginner bass player like myself. I ended up making some minor adjustments to the truss rod and action, but these were totally unnecessary if you don't know what I'm talking about. I'm having so much fun holding up the low end and learning to slap. And again, it sounds really excellent.

Talk about an awesome bass guitar! As I say now, "Donner Rocks". The Donner DPB-510 Electric Bass Guitar Kit was the perfect fit for me as a beginning bass player. Bass arrived in excellent, playable condition. Neck was straight and is a nice, smooth satin. The finish was in great shape. Action good. The strings needed to go though. As I swapped them out I checked out the electronics which were simple and cleanly put together. The frets were in pretty good shape, but since I had the strings off I went ahead and took a 320 grit sanding block to the fret ends, rounded the fretboard edge slightly, and then used some fine steel wool to polish the frets out a little.
I bought the instrument to replace the 3/4 scale bass I bought my son a few years back and we both loved it so much, I bought another one for myself!
Two things to watch out for... be careful the string tree guide isn't catching when you restring. It's a little grabby and I lost a D string. Also, the A notch in the nut was a little tight and had some burrs, but was easily (and carefully) cleaned up just fine.

This is my second Donner guitar. I was so impressed with the Strat copy that I decided to try the bass. Plays great out of the box with a minor tune and action tweak and it's a beauty. I appreciate the extra care taken with packaging which was covered with extra plastic for protection. I'd be surprised if you found anything close to the quality of this bass at a cheaper price. Now planning for a third Donner as I've always wanted a LP copy. Great job, Donner! You guys ROCK!!

It sounds and plays great. I have vintage Gibson guitars but was curious about Fenders without being able to justify the real deal. I learned that the longer scale length is more difficult after decades of playing Gibson's. Flaws? The frets. They're not fully seated at edges and sharp. For the most part I don't notice it much. I also bought their Strat and Tele versions (this is my first bass). Those are even better values for the money. If you're interested in a bass, I highly recommend this.

Overall the construction is very good. The tuning knobs are a bit thin and feel cheap, but that's the only element that seems low budget about the construction. Hooking up to a cheap Fender Rumble 25 amp the sound is warm and full. No it doesn't sound like your favorite YouTube pro's Bass, but for such a low price, it sounds very good and I would guess that even a pro could play it and not be ashamed of the sound. I'm not a pro-bassist, so I won't try to go into technical details, but I doubt you can get a much better bass without paying quite a bit more.

Great bass for the price. It seems like the pickguard and a few other parts are not standard so I am not sure how much upgrading/modifying can be done. However, I was looking for an entry level bass and this fits the bill perfectly. Its a very nice looking bass and build quality and playability exceeded my expectations at this price point. I did have an issue that required help from Donner. While it took a few days to work out the details they totally took care of the issue. This is my second Donner purchase (I also have their telecaster) and so far I am very impressed with their products.

i bought this bass my first i dable with guitars. i can make good music. i own a fender acoustic and a limited edition playboy guitar. both are very good quality. i wanted to start messing around with the bass. so i bought this one. and i will say it is of high qualty and sounds great. you will definitely get your money's worth with this one a great beginner bass. actually just a great bass. at a great price. i highly recommend.

Whether you're a begginer, or want something affordable to play gigs with, this is a great choice for a Pbass. It feels great in hand, doesn't neck dive much, and it sounds great right out of the box with a quick tuning. I would compare this to any Squire or Fender Pbass. A few of the pictures are after I polished and oiled the fretboard, and it cleaned up beautifully.

When you fancy learning a new instrument you tend to go for a cheap and cheerful option so you don't overspend only to find out it's not for you. Problem with that is that you'll end up with an instrument so bad that you will deffinetely hate it and never look at it again. I bit the bullet trying this cheap Donner as I had great value stuff from there before. Turns out it was the right choice!
Features:
- Built like a tank, no flimsiness, looks absolutely gorgeous in Sunburst. Mine has a couple of small knots for character. I like seeing a nice honest piece of wood in my instruments.
- Tuning pegs are solid, no pitch loss. These are high quality, no compromise
- Nice cut nut, no tagging there, strings slide smoothly
- Speaking of strings, they do the job, but you will probably want to put your favourites on
- Sounds great and plays great once you adjust the truss to your liking. For a guitarrist (manly) like myself, a nice low soft action is very important before growing some strength to handle a bass
- Comes with cable, strap and bag. All you need.
Would have liked:
- A truss rod key. It is standard size but I still strugglle to find one in my tool box as I'm very disorganised.
Overall, I really don't know how they can sell an instrument at this quality and make a profit. This is more than a beginner's instrument. Mine's up in its hook on wall ready to use in hiome recordings. Love it!

Only one complaint: wish they packed the box with some foam. Came wrapped in thin foam sheeting inside the gig bag inside the box. They really left it at the mercy of the package handlers. Looked sparkly out of the box except a little scratch or gouge on the side. I was expecting it though, not a deal breaker for me.

For those who think you have to pay over $1,000.00 USD for a good bass, this shows you can get a good but cheap, playable bass for a small fraction of the price.
Feels like my Fender American Precision. Was set up very close to ideal. Tuners knobs everything feels tight nothing loose. Neck is straight, action is good, intonation very close. I could gig with this out of the box, no problem. And it sounds really good !!

So far so good. Cable jack was a little loose inside. 2 minute fix, just had to lift up pick guard and bend positive connection so it was a bit tighter. Otherwise if I were giving this a 1 to 10 rating it would definitely get a strong 7 maybe an 8. Fit, finish real nice. Set up real close to just right and a straight forward passive bass. Great value. Cable seems fine, strap seems fine, gig bag ok but better than most of the budget Basses.

I purchased the DPB-510S 4 String Bass after watching some reviews about this guitar on YouTube. Everyone who bought, played it seemed to have been impressed with it. That not withstanding, my expectations were somewhat guardedly optimistic. The package was delivered a lot sooner than I expected, with Covid delays and all that. It was wrapped up good for shipping with a lot of padding on it. I like how this comes with a gig bag, cable and strap. The gig bag could use a little more padding, but I have bought other guitars from the big brands that didn’t come with one. I was quite impressed with the finish of the guitar. The first thing I did was slide my fingers along the fret board, I was pleasantly surprised to find that it was a lot smoother than a much more expensive bass that I purchased a few weeks before. I am really impressed with the flawless finish of the bass, not something I expected at this price range. Amazing!

Your browser does not support HTML5 video. I can't believe how good this bass is for the price. The sound is pretty spot on and playability is great. The action is a little high out of the box but still playable. A little fret sprout but it is pretty dry by me so you can't fault the company for that. The little things are about what you expect for entry level. Basic plastic pickguard, unfinished fret ends, hard plastic nut. Its all very functional though and an upgrade to more expensive parts would only make slight a subjective difference. I thought I would need to at least replace the pickup but I'm pretty happy with the sound of this one. The bag and strap that come with it are not trash either, perfectly usable. I'm impressed.
