Donner DED-200X Electronic Drum Kit

BLUF - Great set for the price, beginners should buy this and enjoy it for years to come as they develop, you won’t outgrow it. Just make sure you buy an extra set of drumsticks (easier to pick up a new stick than fetch the one you dropped) and a cord that allows you to plug your preferred device into a headphone jack to stream music through into the headphones. More advanced players should consider it, but know that they’ll want to tweak things like using a good kick pedal, nicer throne, better over-the-ear headphones, etc…PROs - comes with everything you need to get started as a BEGINNER. That’s not a knock, it’s a great system and you don’t have to think about your kit while you are learning! It’s easy to setup and has a huge range of sounds and adjustments, metronome, and coaching tools. If you haven’t played before or haven’t been drumming for years, buy this, open the box and enjoy it! Even if you are experienced, this is a great value that you can tweak over time.CONs - the biggest one is how compact the rack is, I’m 6’0” 220lbs and it works fine but I’d love to have a little more space to work in. The pads are like 8” diameter, it forces accuracy but larger pad’s would be nice.-it took a few days to knock the rust off, but once I got my right foot functioning again, the kick drum pedal footboard angle is too low and something about the pedal is inconsistent, one minute it rebounds great, the next it doesn’t. The spring is adjustable, but only seems to offer a degree of difference? Heel-toe doubles and triplets are doable and I use them but the pedal is something you have to work around.-there is a delay with the hi-hat pedal, you almost have to learn to open the hi-hat a beat before you typically would with an acoustic set. You also have to be mindful that you aren’t still applying pressure with your heel if you play the pedal heel down.-The headphones sound ok for the job at hand but they are ON-THE-EAR, my ears are blood red and sore within 45 minutes.-The throne is cheap and cheesy but gets the job done.

I just wanted a cheap set to learn on with my kid and I was blown away honestly. The stock kits sound great and there’s tons of customization options and you can build your own kits. I haven’t even connected to midi yet and it’s been a blast.

The ded200x is a great kit for beginners or even experienced drummers. It's my first kit ever and after messing around with things and playing then moving things around some more and playing again I finally feel like I got it where I feel most comfortable. The pads are very responsive, the cymbals are good but depending on what app/game you are using they sometimes don't respond correctly, but just playing normal they work great, the only thing I'm not that impressed with is the kick pedal it doesn't have a lot of adjustment. Overall I still think it's a great kit and well worth the investment for me.

The product is good overall, but I hope the screw lock part can be improved.

I’m in highschool jazz band and I bought the drumset to help practice and it is perfect for beginners and practicing

I got a set of these and LOVE THEM!!! They are Extremely fun to play! I haven’t played them thru the amp yet, but I have thru the headphones and they ARE AWESOME! I got the DED-200X set with three cymbals and hi-hats and five drums! LOVE the mesh heads! Feels more like acoustic drums than the older style rubber pad electronic drums I also have owned (from a different company)! Donner is the ones for me! I even sold my acoustic drums because these are less intrusive to the neighbors and wife! And they take up less space, and they give me my drumming fix that I have missed due to folks not wanting to hear drums all the time! I can play them thru the headphones and am well satisfied! I have played acoustics for over fifty years! This is the first time I have been without an acoustic set in fifty years! I feel these fufill my drumming needs!

The snare drum is falling all the time

Still working through the sounds but I have noticed the cymbals don’t resonate for too long which kind of downgrades the experience. The cymbals also don’t “wash” well and you can’t build into a crescendo of sound. Otherwise the set is what I expected and it’s a decent addition to my acoustic set when people are home and the loudness of an acoustic set is too much

I love this drum set it's a great set to practice on.. my biggest complaint would be that the bass drum pad does not accommodate a double kick pedal really at all. You can put it on there but it doesn't give both mallets a direct hit. Other than that I love playing it and have no real big complaints..

I have a similar DED-200 set (one more cymbal, different kick, with the same brain). The sounds are pretty good and the kit is easy to set up. I have a couple of go-to presets and am working on setting up my own custom preset. This makes a pretty nice practice setup.

Comes with everything you need. Kick pad can accommodate double pedal. Nice mesh pads and snare can do rim shots. Two zones on crash/ride for bell and edge. You can customize the sounds to build your ideal kit. Trigger midi on computer. Chokable cymbals but how to transmit choke via midi?

Donner Kit Comparison: I've been able to demo both of these e-kits! The Donner DED-80 and DED-200 are both affordable electronic drum kits that provide a variety of useful options and are fun to play! I am impressed at the number of features Donner has included in their line of electronic drumsets. How do you decide which electronic kit is best for you? The DED-80 is a smaller kit with some nice starting features. It includes a snare drum pad, 3 tom pads, a crash cymbal, ride cymbal, and hi-hat pads, and kick and hi-hat trigger pedals. The DED-80 also has a built-in metronome and a variety of drum sounds. The smaller size makes it a great fit for even the youngest drummers! The DED-200 is slightly larger and includes even more features. It has a snare drum pad (with rim trigger), 3 toms, two crash cymbals, a crash/ride cymbal, and hi-hat pad. The upgraded cymbal angle adjustments help with custom cymbal positioning. This kit includes an actual kick pedal and both pedals provide a more realistic and accurate feel (great upgrade from the DED-80). It also has a built-in metronome, a variety of drum sounds, and a number of other features. Both kits make practicing fun and include a number of useful practice and performance tools. Ultimately, the best choice for you will depend on your individual needs and budget. If you are looking for a beginner kit that is smaller in size and affordable but still has mesh pads, the DED-80 is a good option. If you are looking for a slightly larger kit with more upgrades and better pedal feel and accuracy, the DED-200 is a better choice. Impressively, both are easy to set up and everything you need to start playing is included in the box.

The 200 Pro version is an excellent value. If you are looking for a full kit with 5 drums and 4 cymbals, you can't beat this value anywhere else. Sounds are high quality. Rack is full size and strong. Really enjoying it.

This device is perfect for apartment living - I never have to worry about upsetting my neighbors with loud music.

The delivery driver left the package in an inconvenient location outside my house, which made it difficult for me to bring inside.

I have had this product (and the accompanying DDA-80 amp/speaker) for a few weeks, and am really enjoying the setup. I can't believe that not only is a kick pedal, headphone, sticks, and throne included, but that the quality is pretty good for the price I paid...! Note that I'm set up as a lefty. Setup was no problem, it just took a few extra minutes to make sure I reversed the parts pointed out in the document. This is not a perfect set by any means: the drum module's #6 set has a typo (Old Shcool, maybe that's intentional, a pun on cool?), the high hat rubber doesn't provide enough rebound for 1/16 note beats, the high hat pedal has to be fully released to get a good open high-hat sound, some of the drum sets are very low volume with the headphones connected to the module (to the point that I can hear myself hitting the pads more than the drum sound), and the snare pad doesn't have great rebound. However, all I do is tell myself that 1) I'm an old guy just getting back into it after not touching a stick for over 25 years and 2) for the price, I can easily overlook/adjust and just go back to working on basics at slower tempos. I really can't get over the quality of the drum pedal included in this kit, at least for my needs. It's very responsive. I should add that a wonderful complement to this set, especially for the price, is the DDA-80 amp/speaker. It absolutely solves the problem of the low volume of the headphones; plug the headphones into the amp, plug the drums into the amp, and it sounds really good. The bluetooth capability of the DDA-80 is wonderful, too. I have been waiting for over 3 decades to find a way to play music mixed with my drumming, and the amp solves that nicely, again, for a very reasonable price. So, while this is not necessarily a set for seasoned professionals gigging every night, it is a great value for consistent playing by beginner and intermediate drummers. I am overall VERY happy with this setup.

Just a beginner.. wanting to learn to play the drums.. been a desire of mine all my life. Recently retired at 66 and would luv to play the drums

Good set, my 1st electronic set, it takes some getting used to but it's a good starter.

Hands down price for what you get 4cymbal 4 Tom & bass drum (big kit) it's worth it. I've got a few jam sessions on it as well as my son (who I got it for) but we love it. Good product, great price.

This set is very solid and directions are easy to follow. Really like the mesh heads as they feel like real drums not that plastic feel. Things like having rim shots on the snare, sounding different when you play on the edge vs. the middle, three different sounds on cymbals depending where and how hard it's hit, even being able to silence a cymbal by touching with your hand make the set sound and feel very real. The base peddle and the large pad also feel very good to me. It is big enough to use a double bass if you wanted. Again very sturdy. Using a set of 16$ Koss headphones that also sound fantastic! The set comes with 15 different kits sounds. A few of these kits sound really good which is all I need. The rest of the kits sounds don't sound professional but are fun to play around with. Thinking you might be able to import more drum kits but haven't tried it yet. All in all I really like this set and am having a great time practicing and learning new groves.

My first set of drums. I’m learning at the age of 49. Loving every minute of it. So much fun. The quality of this set is amazing for the price.

I will say that it took me a little over 2 hours to put together, but it wasn't bad. I should have watched a video on assembly beforehand, but it was all right. They sound amazing! I couldn't be happier with them. I have never played drums in my life, and it's fun and easy to use. It takes up very little room and is quiet for apartment living. I wish I would have gotten these years ago. This is the second Donner product I have bought (the other was a ukulele) and am so impressed with the company. The quality is great and the price very good on their products.

My church needed a drummer, so after many years away from playing, I volunteered to join the church band. I got the DED-200 for a home practice kit that I can play quietly if need be, and I couldn't be more pleased with my purchase. It does everything I need it to do, and I can practice without chasing the wife and kids out of the house. I can't walk past the kit without sitting down and playing a few bars! I'm a lefty, and the kit sets up for lefty like a breeze. If you're thinking about getting into drumming and want an affordable yet capable kit, this is the kit for you. I should have done it MUCH sooner! Enjoy!

Great for the money I’ve been playing professionally since 1960,but due to health reasons had to stop last year.I bought the electric drums to have something to do without disturbing the neighbors,also my five year old granddaughter wants to learn how to play,it give me a good chance to bond with her.
