Such a cool pedal for such a reasonable price. Simple. and so effective.
Michael F.
I like the unit, it works well. Great value. But I do hear a slight coloration of my tone that makes it sound a little bit metallic. I play very clean tones a lot of the time. That's why I can hear it. If you're primarily using over-driven or distorted tones, you'd probably never even notice it. Many of you might like this aspect of what is does, especially playing punk or metal. It could add just a tiny extra bit of edge to your sound. If you play mainly clean, you might want to try before you buy.
Anthony F.
Very nice sounding easy to use mini Compressor pedal. Great value and service from Donner.
Anthony
Thanks for @Anthony
rick f.
as good as a dd5, or the big boys, no. but less than 50 bucks its great. i use it on my secondary pedal board with a couple other donner pedals. a multi effects, a dumbler, and a comp. put it on a donner mini board, and stick it in my guitar case. its a dual case, pedal board, cables and a tuner, in one side, guitar in the other. other hand with my BJ amp, and Im ready to go in one trip.
Douglas O.
This is a great compressor for the price.
Get one and do the following:
When it’s all set up and plugged in (guitar and all), turn it on with the knobs set to the “12:00 o’clock” position. Now, adjust to where you like the sound. Play your guitar for a bit and enjoy the way it sounds. Next, in order to remove all doubt, turn the effect off and play your guitar. That’s when you will realize what this effect is doing to improve your sound. Do it in that order. That’s what I did. I am very pleased with this purchase.
Deborah D.
I cant believe how good this little pedal is for the money. It is built incredibly well, pots and switches feel solid. It does exactly what it is supposed to do without any degrading of sound quality. I use it for playing bass and I can hear the difference in my levels when I do. I LOVE this pedal!
Garrett C.
Really loving this compressor pedal. It's compact and built like a tank, with a clear tone that really cuts through the mix when you're playing with a band. I'm using the compressor pedal as a lead booster in front of the blues drive pedal. I have the compressor knob set at about 11 o'clock and the gain and tone at about 1 o'clock. This gives me the gain boost I need for solos and lead parts, and works equally well with overdrive or clean. Great value for your money and sounds better than a way more expensive vintage compressor pedal I used to play through.
Daniel F.
I bought this pedal to use with my acoustic guitar into EHX Mel9 and C9 pedals. The compression results in smoother tracking with these pedals.
Liesejunh
Bought the compressor so I can tame the peaks of the slap bass without making ear drums burst. The compressor works great and has amazing tone controls, and can be used as a boost of sorts too if you wanted a boost/compressor in one. Dialing up the tone and the mode switch can really bring out those funky snaps. Something that I didn't realize is that it is not a true bypass pedal. You have to have it plugged in to get signal through bypass. Which means it's likely a buffered bypass. Not a problem for me, but for some, might be a deal breaker. I think it's great tho cuz compressors for me go at the beginning of a chain.
Daniel S.
This pedal is a must have for all types of music. A compressor really improves the tonal quality of your guitars. Once you get one, you'll wonder why you waited so long. This pedal is easy to dial in, inexpensive and a lot of bang for the buck. Get one, it truly is a game changer.
Eric Meddaugh
If your a pedal person, there's 2 pedals you need, EQ & compresser, both can be used for boost.Granted this is more of a low end comp.,but it does a good job for what it is.So, for the price and functionality, I would recommend it...rock on
gary b.
It will sustain a note Forever till the end of time. That's what I wanted.
rick f.
You see all these pedals by Boutique builders. As I myself have bought many of them. If your talking overdrive/distortion types, I get it. So personal on what your looking for. But, when your talking comps, delays, even most choruses, these donner pedals are unbeatable for less than 40 bucks. I own B**S, Wam***r, and other expensive ones. I have A/B ed them trying to find flaws. In a live situation they sound just as good, and quiet. I have cut my pedal board in half with these pedals. And speaking of pedal boards, check their prices on those. I bought two, a small one for quick gigs with all Donners and a R*t. And a big one with many Donners for my main board. Now I got more room for more donner mini pedals.
Thabiso
It's a good compressor especially at this price range definitely adds to your tone and is bit blusey with some overdrive but in a very subtle way nothing over the top. It's got a very specific compression tone however again at this price this rocks this is a great product and if your thinking about getting it just get it.
jflemmer
This is surprisingly sturdy and good sounding, especially considering the price. I needed a second, simple, set-and-forget compressor for my acoustic guitar, which would sound natural and retain the warmth of my LR Baggs preamp equipped Breedlove. This is perfect for that. I didn't need it to be a swiss army knife compressor---that's what my Empress is for, which I use for my electrics. Time will tell how well it holds up, particularly the footswitch, but to be fair it's only $38.
Stuff is...stuff
Surprisingly good compressor. Low noise, LOTS of long bell-like sustain when juiced, and and it helped to sharpen up my tone a bit. Not a versatile compressor, but it does what does well which is light to medium compression. It has switch for ‘Normal’ and ‘Treble’ (bright) much like the switch on a Keeley compressor to the same affect- which is to brighten or darken the overall tone. It’s all analog and true bypass, a couple of features that until recently were only found in more expensive pedals. The enclose is small and made of metal making it ideal for crowded pedalboards that see regular use. I’ve only played it through a 5 watt combo tube amp, not my 50 watt monster, so I can’t attest to how it sounds through a loud amp, but it’s nice for the little amp. It’ll definitely have a spot on my board.
Zachary Chavez
This compressor sits at the start of my chain. I originally purchased it at the recommendation of a friend and was pleasantly surprised at how "tight" it makes my bass sound. If you purchase this pedal prepare for it to be an always on must have
Joseph U.
Tried it once...no so impressed..however I need more time to get to know it better.
Evan L.
$40 for a compressor that sounds MUCH better than expected? Sign me up. If you've been on the fence about whether or not you need a compressor, just skip going to Starbucks a few times and buy this instead. It's so cheap that it hardly warrants a second thought. I was compressor skeptical before buying this, but it's quickly turning into an always-on pedal for me. Will definitely consider buying more Donner pedals in the future.
Customer
I use this for my bass and I am very happy with it. It's a fifth the price of a bass compressor but still sounds great.
Michael Hughes
Does what it’s supposed to do and it’s cheap!
RAY ANTHONY JAGRU
With more than I paid for. I recommend hands down.

The media could not be loaded. So I have to say I’m impressed with this pedal, even though my expectations weren’t high. Not because I felt a moderately priced compressor couldn’t do well but because I haven’t found one that works with my Rickenbacker 360/12 with the high gains (not the beloved toasters). This pedal also sounds great on my Les Paul and strat style guitars. The problem with the high gains is they don’t have that distinctive Ric “chime”, although they sound really good in their own right. However, looking to get a toaster/ Byrds chime out of the high gains is tricky. This involves a lot of headroom before distortion and some compression. There is an awesome pedal called a “Janglebox” that I believe Roger McGuinn helped design that can definitely achieve this tone, however it’s around $300 (no doubt fair for what you get) could also get a pair of toaster pickups installed for a few hundred (even the knockoffs work). Being on a budget, I was looking to get a more chimney tone without breaking the bank and this is where the Donner Ultimate Compressor steps in, to fill that gap (at least for me). Does it sound like a true 1960’s Rickenbacker with toasters going through a Vox AC30, lol, nope. What it sounds like though is really nice. This is my happy medium. Thanks and enjoy!
Grant H.
A great yet simple compressor.
Glenn
Works well. No noise. Great compressor
Raymond C.
Compresorpedal tried it work like a charm.adopted
Paul V.
Fairly new to pedals although I have played guitar for over 40 years. Unit seems well made. Tweaking it to find my sweet spot. All in all, a nice pedal for the money.
Justin B
This is a good bang for the buck but don’t purchase the donned power supply…horrible.
alex r.
This pedal works amazing. You can never go wrong with a Donner pedal. You will always get way more pedal than what you pay for!
DannyTeichert
I like this pedal. I find myself using it more and more and it really brings out my guitar sound while soloing
Alan W.
These Donner mini pedals are a great bang for the book. Built well, and work nicely.
Customer
This pedal is an absolute blessing. I have tinkered around with compressors before but this one is next level. The tone knob keeps my humbucker tone thick and when cranked all the way up it cleans it up and sounds like a Stratocaster. My guitar tone sounds 10 times better after introducing this to my board! I’m definitely going to look into getting a couple more Donner pedals!
Robin Clark
Bought this cause I was looking at secondhand boss pedal for my acoustic guitar. Breathed a whole new lease of life into it. Simple to use controls and really brought a sparkle to my guitar. I play a freshman 2dc dreadnought and tbh I was sceptical that this little Pedal would do much. Blown away. Best £25 I ever spent. For those wondering about acoustic guitars and this pedal, look no further. Set the level, flick the switch to normal and tone to taste then dial up that compression knob to a level you like. Eliminated my issue of losing my guitar in the vocals. Really keeps it sat there right in the mix.
Gordon L.
I ordered a second peddle and have yet to receive it. I plan on purchasing more items when I finally receive it
Ivan H.
Great compressor for a great price. It's built very sturdy with quality pots and switches. The treble setting works really well with humbuckers.
Andy C.
Works fine! Gives me a little extra headroom for cleans on my amp and helps my guitar stand out In front when needed!
howard r riskin
Enriched sound, very happy with item
Scott M.
Great pedal and great price , so much so they sent it to me twice.. purchase this and a noise gate and only received the compressor and they were great. Sent pics because they asked for them. Should have been both together.. so they said they would send a replacement. Took a week for them to send it and only to recieve another compressor pedal instead of what I was missing which is the noise gate.. confirmed with them three times and sent pics of what pedal I had and what one was missing from shipment.. I give up and it's not worth another month of back and forth to square this out.. I'm out.. they make quality pedals for cheap. Just need to do some better order fulfillment and attention to detail. Nobody is at there best right now so I'm not blaming them. I just am over it
Mike E.
I had a problem with the order, Donner resolved the issue. It took some time but in the end things were made right.
Dan C.
Good product, good price. Easy to use and perform as intended. One little complaint as the for one promo started when I just received the compressor.
David F.
It's a surprisingly good pedal for the price ,I will purchase more in the near future!
Shawn
Not perfect but I can't complain about a $23 pedal. I use it with a bass and it works great for improving the over all clarity of my little practice amp while playing at indoor volume so I'm happy with it. That said, if you're gigging or recording this might not work great for a bass. It seems as though very very low frequencies are lost while this pedal is active. I'm guessing the guts on this little guy are optimized for use with a guitar.
Kenneth A.
The Donner Compressor Pedal is a great pedal at an extremely low cost. I would put this pedal up against any of the top compression pedals on the market.
Antonio M.
It's petit, easy to use, just love it. Does the job it was designed for period! I have it after my Donner Noise Killer on my pedal board. Tiny real estate, total control.
Bass Player Mike
This compressor reminds me of the TC Electronics one knob compressor that is easy to use and more sophisticated than all the rest with a million knobs on them that I just don't get !!! I've always had a hard time finding a bass compressor that is easy to use and affordable. I think compression is the least understood pedal because it doesn't do any fun things to your sound like delay or chorus, which are obvious right from the start. This pedal is punchy, affordable, and Easy to use !!!! I highly recommend it. Finally, a bass compressor that costs less than $100 bucks and is easy to use ! I don't understand or want those compressors that have eight knobs on them and all this wording that makes no sense. This is perfect.
Dan H.
Since I got it, I don't think I've stopped using it. It's such a well built pedal I don't understand how it's so cheap. Buy it.
Mackenzie
I cannot tell you how much this improves the sound of my setup. It's such a simple yet effective tool with the capability of taking a grating dry signal and single handedly making it sound smooth pleasant. Compression really does shape the sound into something more full to the ear and I cannot recommend this compressor enough to anyone that doesn't have one yet. If you don't have one I can pretty much guarantee that compression will improve your setup and this one here is a pretty low risk high reward way to find out for yourself. Solid product!
Syd V.
Great value, great product!
Andrew
Simple compression pedal. For the price you can't beat it. Super fast shipping. Definitely recommend if you're looking for one without all the bells and whistles!
Castamor
Use good input cable to eliminate noise. Guitar pickups may vary in noise reduction. Unit works as I expected.
Gianni D.
I'm trying to improve my guitar tone. I have a modeling amp but I still think pedals are helpful. After watching a video with Michael Angelo Batio and talking to my friends I thought a compressor could really help. I think it does. I'm no expert or aficionado, but to me it sounds a lot cleaner when I use the compressor pedal. Moreover I really like these Donner mini pedals. I find them a convenient size and they feel like quality to me.
Charles T.
Totally enhanced my guitar’s sound immediately that now I play with it on all the time.
I combine it with my Tubescreamer pedal through my Fender Blues Jr. Works really well!
Peter F.
Not very good. It will work fine as a little hum eliminator, but you'll end up killing your signal trying to kill the extra noise from any distortion/overdrive. Moral of this story: it's fine for no gain rigs.
Mike B.
It’s a great little piece of equipment. Functions exactly as advertised and is a quality item
Jaime P.
Excellent pedal one of my favorites
FireFly Guitars
I have this paired up with my Danelectro 12-string 59/12. This is it. If you want jangly, surf, the classic Dan or jangly sound of the sixties....this is it. Right here. Look no further. If you have a Danelectro or jangly guitar..buy this..you need it...the guitar is incomplete without it, and it's okay...that's how it was done from the start. Blackbirds singing in the dead of niiiiight......needs this
Michael V.
Pedal sounds good. Solid construction. Easy to use. Great price. Tighten up your tone with out breaking the bank.
Daniel W.
After being VERY pleased with my DTC-100S, Tele style Donner, I ordered a Black DST-102B Strat style. Both were purchased through Amazon. It was reviewed as a great buy on YouTube by several people so I thought I'd give it a try to add to my collection. I couldn't buy just the guitar, I had to buy the kit with the small amplifier and other accessories. Oh well, you can't have too many picks.
The DTC Tele came packaged really well by Amazon. It was almost in tune and the action and intonation was very close. The DST Strat showed up in the guitar box only with all the stuff packed inside the box, rattling around and partially open. Thank UPS it wasn't damaged. Surprise!
When I opened up the box to check for damage, it was OK but a SUNBURST model, not the BLACK I ordered. The neck is thicker, not wider, but thicker than the Tele model it make it a little harder to play. The action and intonation is way off but I can handle setting that. The whammy bar missed getting chromed all the way. I am a little worried about this one as QC wasn't up to par on that day as they couldn't even make sure the nameplate was on correctly. See the picture. I'm a little less in love with Donner than I initially was.
Jordan L.
I can’t use it because I don’t have a power supply
Gary E.
Pedal was defective, I asked for a swap, they told me to send a video...when you step on the switch for true bypass there`s no sound going through. so as far as tech support or 100 % product satisfaction, forget it. you bought you got it. as is. good luck, Im sure they are not all bad. Just the one I recieved.
JustSomeGuy
Recently got this to try and decided it was well worth the gamble. This compressor pedal like many of Donners products has over delivered. Im slowly finding more and more hidden gems that this company makes and this time its this little compressor pedal. Now other pedals exist that do something similar but not necessarily tailored to guitar. This one addresses what a guitarist requires for compression and does away with unnecessary controls making it easy to get to your tone. You will need a 9 volt power supply
Jason audisio
This is a killer little compressor! And for the price you can’t beat it! The packaging it came in was a real bonus as well! Quality through and through! I love this pedal!
Troy R.
Great experience. Fast shipping. Great product. Great prices.
Brian C.
This compressor does a good job of lowering the loudest parts of my playing, and equalizes my picking and strumming. The more it is engaged, the more background noise it adds to a gain pedal so you probably want to use a noise gate with your high gain pedals. The treble mode increases this effect. When no high gain pedals are on I haven't noticed this. As always, the construction is fantastic.
Marvin W.
It meets my expectation!
David Lane
These little guys not only did EXACTLY what I wanted but at a significantly lower price than their competition
robert g.
I was amazed how nice this drum was. Intoned well, very solid construction, and sounds wonderful.
Ray B.
I love this unit. It does it's job. I have a more bunky expensive one and this small unit is close to it. I now travel and do open concert with these effect pedals. They don't disappoint.
Bob
Adds a professional amd ‘finished’ sound to my Martin through the amp.
KevBes
I really like this pedal. I have six Donner pedals and they all work great. They are built like tanks and have lots of versatility in their sounds.
michael c.
This the forth pedal I've purchased from Donner. This compressor is so easy to use. just set it forget about it. When it clicks in it is the perfect touch to add punch and clarity.
justin bruton
I had always heard about a compressor pedal, but had never tried one. I can't explain it other than this, it just makes everything better.
Robert
SO pleasantly surprised by the whole experience. I was worried (and half expecting) that the pedal would feel cheap and maybe “sound cheap”. But.. from the really great packaging to the metal enclosure I was so impressed with this purchase for the super affordable price. So then I ran my bass through it and man... it fattened up my tone, I could still play lightly, kick on the overdrive, it all sounded like going from a micro amp to a stadium rig! I don’t really write a lot of reviews but this is one of those things you buy that you feel really deserves a good review because it’s simply that good.
Douglas J. Gualtieri
My first compression pedal and I love it. Really makes a different in warmth and fullness of tone.
Alan Juers
Very good sounding, and simple to use, compressor pedal. Very good alternative to the more expensive ones.
Daniel L Erickson
Works well for low-volume/bedroom scenarios, which is why I got it. Serves mostly as a treble boost in my rig. Now I can play my amps at a reasonable volume with much improved, brighter tone!
Eric John Schwab
This is the best compressor I’ve used. It doesn’t squash the notes the way my Boss compressor does. It’s subtle and does its job. And for the price it’s a no brainer.
Doc Holiday
You can’t beat this for the price. Just pull the trigger and see how great it is!
Chris D.
I absolutely love Donner pedals!! They pack a lot into a little box! Such great tones and adjustability allows you to dial you unique tone! The Compression pedal does exactly what is supposed to do and is a clean straight through when not in use!
Michael Buccetti
I was looking for a an easy to use compressor. This is it. Love the sound I'm getting out of my EBMM for that funk sound! Can't get a better pedal for the price.
matt dooley
Works as advertised

It performed as expected. Good value for the cost

i really like the way this compressor seems to work. it’s subtle, and seems to work best at the front of the effects chain, putting it at the end makes everything seem kind of, how shall i say. . . loud, too loud! While it’s not my VLA-II, and it’s doesn’t color the sound, it really can level out ones sound while maintaining the dynamic qualities of the guitar. At this point i’ve used it with my strat, my OE-40 hollow body, and my 1980 Lotus, through digital practice amps as well as my DIY/Fender tweed style amp/ w a Fender deluxe cabinet and my Ampeg 50/w Reverb Rocket and i really can’t complain. i will say though that if you are putting it in front of a distortion pedal or and overdrive you may find it to be overkill, and it may squash your dynamics a bit, but maybe not to your ears. great before delays and tremolos, haven’t tried it with phase shifters, and it didn’t do so much for my dan electro cool cat chorus, might work better after that effect. anyway, i like this and it’s a good intro into the Donner line. maybe i will check out some other Donner products because of this compressor. all in all i’m happy with the price, the quality and the sound, but mostly the sound. like i said before, it won’t color your sound the way some other higher end models might, but i don’t think that’s what the designers intended anyway.
Geomancer
Works well. Could push a little harder but it's all I needed for now. Good deal for the price.
